A Wartime Letter to My Children

My dear children,

These last 18 months have been some of the most difficult of times. I want you to know that I love you very much. I want you to know that you are always on my mind. Constantly spinning. Making sure I am protecting you from danger. Shielding you from harm. Protecting you from a world that is descending into chaos. Your mother and I are fighting this battle together. And sometimes we are both so tired. But seeing you grow and thrive and be healthy and intelligent gives us the strength to go on and keep fighting.

Although we have been very open with you about several aspects of this war, there is much you don’t know and will likely not understand until you are older. And that’s okay—to be honest there is much of our current situation that I still don’t understand. I’ll try to outline some of this here, while it is fresh in my mind. Hopefully you can read it later in life to gain an appreciation for what has been going on outside our door.

The Battle for Freedom of Speech

It is becoming increasingly difficult to communicate with likeminded people. Our government, in combination with powerful technology companies, is waging a war on information. One of the oldest tricks of war is to cut off your enemy’s lines of communication. They are censoring physicians, politicians, journalists. They are de-platforming people who dare to question reports in the news or recommendations from health agencies. Hundreds of thousands of people have died in the last 18 months, allegedly from complications of infection from a virus called SARS-COV-2. It’s very possible that these numbers are inflated due to widespread false-positive testing. Remember when I lost my job at the hospital because they shut everything down? And I started working long hours for that company that was doing testing in Arizona? I saw firsthand how hundreds and thousands of test samples were mishandled. Left to sit out in the hot Arizona sun for hours and sometimes an entire day before the lab came and picked them up. Lots of people who have died were already pretty sick to begin with. Sick with things like diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, and cancer. We may never really know how many have actually died because of the virus.

The Battle for Medical Freedom

At the end of 2020, an experimental injection was released to the world. This injection was developed very quickly. At “warp speed”, they tell us. They did not fully study the safety of the shot before they released it. They gave the companies who made it something called “Emergency Use Authorization,” and if someone dies or gets hurt after taking the shot, the company who made it can’t get in trouble. And so far, just in the United States, almost 12,000 people have been reported to have died because of the shot. Over 1,200 moms have lost their babies because of the shot (see this report). There are some doctors who think that more like 55,000 people have died because of the shot. (see this lawsuit) They are calling it a vaccine, and they claim that it is 90%+ effective against COVID-19. What we have not effectively been told is that this shot does not protect a person from becoming infected with SARS-COV-2, and it does not prevent people from spreading SARS-COV-2. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control recently announced that 74% of recent infections in a sample group in Massachusetts were people who were “fully vaccinated.” (see this report) But, my dear children, if you try to share this information on the Internet, you get censored and shut up and “cancelled.” Furthermore, since practically the beginning of this viral outbreak, there have been multiple low-cost medications and therapies that have been shown to be effective at healing this infection. But doctors have been prevented from prescribing these medicines, patients have not been told about these medications, and governments have prohibited the use of these medicines.

The Battle for Bodily Autonomy

We have taught you from a young age that you are “the boss of your body.” We have taught you to tell a parent or trusted adult if anyone tries to touch you inappropriately or does anything to your body to make you feel uncomfortable. Guess what? When you’re a grown-up, you are still “the boss of your body!” Nobody—and I mean NOBODY—has the right to do anything to your body without your permission. This includes a doctor. Since they released this experimental shot, there are some people who are being very loud and claiming that a government should force people to take this shot. There are companies who are forcing their employees to take the shot if they want to come to work. There are governments—including the United States Government—who are forcing their employees to take the shot to be able to come to their jobs. Some schools and colleges are not letting people come learn at their schools unless they get this shot. Even the President of the United States recently said that he wants to send people door-to-door in neighborhoods to talk to people who have not taken the shot. This is why we tell you to never answer the door if we’re not home. Hopefully the dogs will bark loud enough to scare these crazy strangers away.

The Battle for Religious Freedom

Remember last year when we weren’t allowed to go to church? We were told that we have to do church at home. It was lots of months before we slowly started going back to church. And even then, we weren’t supposed to sing or shake hands or sit near our friends. Lots of people still wore masks to church. But not us. And even though people probably judged us or thought we were a little crazy, I’m glad we didn’t. And I still sang the songs. A little quieter than normal, but I still sang. They can’t silence me. The song of the righteous is a prayer unto God, and our government will not prohibit me from saying a prayer to God. You missed out on a lot of time with your friends and doing activities at church. Did you know that our country was founded by people who were looking for freedom? Especially freedom of religion? To be able to worship and assemble and learn about whatever makes us feel right. In the United States Constitution, we learn that:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

When we read this, we might think that these rights are given to us from a government. This is false. The right to assemble and to worship is not something that a government gives us. It is an inalienable right given to us by God. For the last 18 months, the government has taken away this right from us. This is not right.

So, dear children, you can see why your mother and I are so tired. We might not be fighting in tanks or airplanes. We are not far from home in a trench or in a desert storm. We come home at night and get you to bed. We are there for you in the morning to get you off to school. But we are fighting a war. Sometimes we are distracted by our phones. Because we are reading. We are staying informed. We are looking at the news and listening to people who are also awake to the battle that is raging. We have to read things when we can because sometimes in a day or two, those things have been deleted from the Internet forever.

At the beginning of this virus outbreak I owned a business. I had a few employees. I started that business right after graduating medical school. I was really proud of it. Remember helping me move into my office? And coming to work with me when you were sick? For five years I built up my practice, growing steadily. But when everyone got scared and stayed home, I lost a lot of work. People didn’t come in for their appointments and I wasn’t able to keep things running. So I closed my business. Thankfully things have turned around and now I’m working closer to home. Things are good now, and we have been blessed beyond measure. We did not lose our home. We did not lose our cars. We have always had food in the fridge, electricity to charge your iPads, and we are healthy and strong.

I love you with all my heart. I’m sorry if I have been preoccupied with everything going on in the world. I don’t mean to ignore you. But, we are at war. And I am fighting for our family. To keep us safe. To keep us healthy. To keep us protected from the evils that lurk in the hearts of men. Just like the church song says:

It may not be on the mountain height
Or over the stormy sea,
It may not be at the battle’s front
My Lord will have need of me.
But if, by a still, small voice he calls
To paths that I do not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:
I’ll go where you want me to go.

I don’t know when this war will be over. But I will never stop fighting for you and our family.

Love,
Your Tired Dad
